About Our School
Heritage, heart and high expectations — the De Kroon way.
Serving Brits Since 1968
De Kroon Primary School opened its doors in 1968 as a small farm-school just outside Brits, established to serve the children of agricultural workers in the De Kroon community. Over more than five decades we have grown into a fully recognised public ordinary school under the North West Department of Basic Education, while keeping the warm, family atmosphere that our founding parents valued.
Today De Kroon serves 231 learners from Grade R through Grade 7, supported by 10 SACE-registered educators and a dedicated School Governing Body (SGB). As a Section 21 school, we manage our own finances and curriculum-aligned procurement, allowing us to invest directly in classroom excellence.
Located in the Bojanala District, we sit at the meeting point of three proud South African communities — Setswana, Afrikaans and English speaking — and we celebrate this rich diversity every single day.
Educating the Whole Child
Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing and academically rigorous learning environment in which every learner — regardless of background — can discover their gifts and grow into a confident, compassionate young South African.
We believe that education is the most powerful tool to break the cycle of poverty and to build the engaged citizens our country needs. That is why our teaching is rooted in CAPS (Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement) excellence, while reaching beyond it through reading clubs, sports, the arts, and Setswana cultural activities.
- Vision: A school where every child is seen, heard and prepared for high school and beyond.
- Motto: "Crowned with Excellence" — Excellence in character, conduct and learning.
- Promise: Small classes, big ambitions, deep care.
