Our Approach to Learning

We follow the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) of the Department of Basic Education, enriched with reading, project work and Setswana cultural studies. Foundation Phase (Grade R–3) focuses on literacy and numeracy; Intermediate (4–6) and Senior (7) Phases broaden into subject-based learning.

A Day in the Life

Our school day begins at 07:30 with morning assembly — a moment for school news, a thought for the day and a song that brings every grade together. Lessons run in 30 to 45-minute periods with two short breaks for fresh air and the National School Nutrition Programme meal.

Mr Engelbrecht, our Principal, walks the corridors every morning to greet learners by name, reflecting our small-school promise: nobody is invisible at De Kroon.

  • 07:30 — Arrival & morning assembly
  • 08:00–10:30 — Period 1–3
  • 10:30–11:00 — First break & nutrition meal
  • 11:00–13:00 — Period 4–6
  • 13:00–14:30 — Sports & clubs

Beyond the Curriculum
